Choosing what to log
Turn event categories on or off to match what matters on your site.
By default every event category is recorded. Turn categories on or off under Activity Log → Settings → Events. Disabling a category truly stops new events from being written for it — existing entries are kept.
The nine categories
- Auth/Users — logins, logouts, failed attempts, role & profile changes
- Content — posts, pages and custom post types
- Taxonomy — categories, tags and custom terms
- Media — uploads, edits and deletions
- Comments — created, approved, spammed, trashed
- Plugins — activations, deactivations, installs, updates
- Themes — switches, installs and updates
- Core/Settings — WordPress updates and key option changes
- Menus & Widgets — navigation and widget-area changes
Noisy events such as autosaves, revisions and heartbeat requests are filtered out automatically so the log stays signal, not noise.
